TB Check for UK Visa Applications
Why Do I Need to be Screened?
TB testing with Chest X-ray identifies the presence of lung TB which can be treated, preventing you from becoming ill and avoids passing the infection on to others.
If you are travelling from a country where TB is common or if you are planning to stay in the UK for a period of more than 6-months, you will need this compulsory screening.
What is the process for VISA TB screening?
Book a Visa TB appointment with one of our doctors in the morning.
We will refer you, that afternoon (subject to their availability), for a Chest X-ray in Belfast, at Alliance Medical, Holywood Road. They should contact you directly following referral. You must bring proof of ID to the X-ray appointment.
Results are back with our doctor within 7 days.
If there are signs of TB we will book you in for 3 sputum (spit) samples over 3 days to look for TB.
These sputum tests can take 4 weeks to be completed.
Once all results are back we can complete your paperwork and send you a copy and share with the UK Visa department.
What do I need to bring to my Clinic appointment?
Valid Identification which contains your photograph such as a Passport, National ID Card, or Refugee Asylum Seeker Card.
A photocopy of your identification
The clinic fee can be paid online at the time of booking with us.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not have an X-ray department, but will send you that day for a walk-in Chest X-ray appointment with Alliance Medical, as mentioned below.
Chest X-ray
We can organise your Chest X-ray with Alliance Medical in Holywood Road, Belfast, for the same day as your doctor’s appointment with us (subject to their availability).
At Alliance Medical, a walk-in clinic currently operates allowing for same day X-rays (subject to availability).
They will contact you, once they receive the referral from us.
