We’ve answered the most common questions about our private blood test service below. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, our team is happy to help.
For erectile dysfunction concerns or difficulty having intercourse or low libido, we recommend seeing the doctor as you will need a physical examination and other tests.
You can also discuss choice of tests by booking a pre-blood test GP telephone appointment to ensure your care is complete.
The testosterone blood test for men should be done from 08:45am – 9.30am in the morning and you should be FASTING for 8 hourd to produce an accurate result.
Some private blood tests must be taken at specific times of the day, usually the morning, to ensure the samples arrive at the appropriate lab in time.
Some tests must be taken at specific times: Glucose 9:30am, Cortisol 9:30am, Cholesterol 9:30am, Testosterone 9am-9:30am, Quantiferon test for TB by 12pm, Coagulation test 11am.
All hormone blood tests are done in the morning and you should be fasting for 8 hours before. You can drink water, but no tea or coffee.
All other private blood tests can be performed at any time of day.
If you are attending a private GP appointment and require blood tests, these can usually be taken during your consultation. If there is not enough time during your appointment you will be asked to book a further blood test appointment.
Some blood tests require fasting. This means no food during the 8 hours before your appointment. Drinking water is allowed and encouraged.
Always fast for thyroid tests, Blood glucose, cholesterol/Lipids, hormones such as testosterone and oestrogen..
We courier your samples to the laboratory the same day for appointments pre 1pm and next day for appointments post 1pm, with results often back within 24-72 hours once received by the lab. Please note, turn around times can vary depending on the test. We can provide more information on this at your appointment, please just ask.
We process bloods across two main labs: Eurofins Biomnis in Dublin, and The Doctors Laboratory in London. Depending on the tests required and the time of your appointment we will decide which lab is best suited for carrying out these blood tests.
We will share your results with you in a private secured email. Advice is provided by your doctor on what the results mean and next steps. If you have any follow-up questions for the doctor or would like further advice, a telephone consultation can be arranged for £50.
Please note, if the doctor reviewing your results identifies any findings that are serious or require a specialist referral, our reception team will contact you to arrange a telephone consultation with the doctor to discuss. The fee for this consultation is £75, including the cost of the referral if required.
If it is extremely urgent the doctor will call you immediately.
When tests are done as part of a profile or blood test bundle (a group of tests offered by the lab) they work out less expensive per test, in comparison to doing one blood test on its own, and thus NO further discount is offered for bundles/profiles. If you find a better price for your blood tests, let us know and we will try and match that.
If you are having a large selection of single tests we will do our best to offer a discount, this would be decided by our manager.
Urine Tests
Do not pass urine in the two hours before coming so that your bladder is full.
Cholesterol / Lipid Profile
we recommend you have fasted for at least 10 hour before and that these tests are taken in the morning.

In some people on the cusp of diabetes then we recommend a HBA1C test.
we recommend you have fasted for at least 10 hour before and that these tests are taken in the morning.
Hormone Blood Tests
The testosterone blood test for men should be done from 08:45 am – 9.30am in the morning to produce an accurate result.

we recommend you have fasted for at least 10 hour before and that these tests are taken in the morning.
Thyroid Blood Tests
For most accurate interpretation of thyroid test results.:
we recommend you have fasted for at least 10 hour before and that these tests are taken in the morning.
Family History
Depending on your specific family history you may decide to have additional tests performed for example if there is a family history of coeliac disease we would check your coeliac antibody .
Another example would be if someone in your family had bowel, prostate or ovarian cancer, we can discuss checking markers for these diseases.
For children 10 years and over, and children comfortable with blood tests, these can be booked with our Healthcare Assistant in the treatment room.
For children between the ages of 5 – 10, or children who are not comfortable with getting their bloods taken, we advise you to call or email the clinic to arrange the appointment as this will need to be with a GP. Additional costs apply.
